We often tend to forget that – in a way – we’re highly intelligent animals that rooted in nature long ago. Philosophically speaking that might be the reason for many of us to flourish in environments with a natural touch. This might also explain why wood finished decorative items have such a positive effect on our state of mind. It simply feels good to look at them.
To create such a positive experience and eye appealing products we use several kinds of wood. Coconut shell is one of them and has been used for generations. Local farmers in Indonesia as well as Central and South America organically grow the palm nuts. What is not harvested for cooking oil is used to make jewellery. The artists we work with have carved this type of organic jewellery for over 50 years. They have perfected the art and took it to the highest level in order to bring you the best quality in coconut interior products available today.
Besides coconut shells we also use bark (a left over material from the pine tree), semani wood (the first layer of the teak wood tree, the left over material), rosewood (which has the character of ebony but is a fast growing tree) and cinnamon sticks (cut in pieces and polished after inlay).
For woodworking craftsman, creative improvisation and innovation combined with a trained eye and skilled hands are key requirements: absolutely necessary to shape and transform a living material (wood) into a durable and functional form.
The natural look, feel and smell of wood, enriched by the artisan’s effort and touch, turn every room into a warm and comfortable environment.
